Rodin...and Indy! July 16

Sundays are hard to figure out in Paris.  Some places are open, and some are not. Some have different hours. And there's not much rhyme or reason as to what places decide to do.  When I looked at today on the master plan before coming, I was planning on the Rodin Museum...but, beyond that it was pretty open.

I decided this week that I wanted to go to church -- and I wanted to try and find a place that was in English.  It's part of my weekly rhythm at home and I wanted some "normal."  I found the most wonderful place in St. Michael's Paris (https://www.saintmichaelsparis.org/).  It was super cool to be with people from all around the world. I really enjoyed myself.

For lunch, I checked out a "Frog Pub." There are a series of these places around Paris and I think they are probably really popular during the evening (and sporting events).  It was super quiet at lunch time...so I took advantage of that and asked the waitress for her favorite appetizer (corn balls -- kind of like non-spicy falafel with corn in them) and her favorite sweet waffle (one with whipped cream and smashed up M and Ms).  She didn't lead me wrong ...it was a fabulous lunch!

I meandered my way to the Rodin Museum and I saw it...yep...the "Thinker."  Live and in-person! And many other interesting works.  One thing I really appreciated about the Rodin Museum was that it had helpful descriptions in multiple languages by each statue.  I also liked the paintings -- one that was by Edward Munch that depicted the Thinker and another that was by Rodin himself. I also have to give a shout out to the museum staff -- my ticket wouldn't open in my app and I was ready to just buy another one -- but, the nice guy at the door tried to help me and then said since it was just one ticket and I had the email to go on.  Kindness wins.

I wanted to try the movie theater experience again -- this time with a bigger theater and a movie in English. I saw the latest Indiana Jones movie with French subtitles.  And the air conditioning worked.  And they had multiple bathroom stalls that were free.  I'd call it a win all the way around.

Stay tuned this week for more guest speaker, museums, and even tea at the Ritz! :)

Until tomorrow....

The Last Day -- July 21

I'm all checked in for my flight in the morning, largely packed, and have a free day today for last minute fun before a farewell dinner ...
