Trying out blogging from my phone…it doesn’t seem fancy, but it’ll work!
Seagulls are loud. Very loud. I think they like to compete with roosters as morning wake-up animals in this part of France.
After the morning wake-up call, we had a continental breakfast in our hotel. Hot chocolate, crossiant, hard boiled egg, delicious fruit, cheese, and I even tried a sausage just for Joe. (It was better than sausage in the US!)
Mont St Michel was magnificent…and like everything in Europe. In fact, they just celebrated its 1000-year anniversary last month. The weather was reminiscent of the Pacific Northwest…60s, overcast, and a little rainy…for most of our visit. The legend of how Mont St Michel came to be is quite interesting…here’s a little about it: https://www.france-justforyou.com/blog/the-legends-of-mont-saint-michel
Our tour guide talked a lot about the different kinds of architecture in the Abbey on the Mont — Roman and Gothic mainly. The Roman architecture is highlighted by really thick rock walls, while the Gothic is a lot of arches.
I walked back to the bus (about a mile and a half) and saw some wildflowers and cows. But not cows of the live variety…painted ones like the painted horses in Lexington!
On the bus back to Paris now!
Until tomorrow…
